Quick-start Guide

Know someone battling PTSD?
Here's a quick list of Do's and Don'ts

Tell them to "get over it" or "snap out of it"

Make yourself available to support them

Minimizing how they feel - such as saying it isn't that bad or could be worse

Listen to them and let them freely express their feelings

If someone is considering suicide, don't be judgmental, doubt their wherewithal, or lecture them

Remove immediate dangers or potential dangers to themselves or others

Don't try to diagnose, fix, or solve their challenges or feelings

Support them and encourage them to ask for help from professionals

Regardless of the time, day, or location, help is ALWAYS out there - asking for it is the hardest part.
